COSCO (Council of Senior Citizens Organizations of British Columbia) would like to hear from you about your experience with the health care system. Your written story will contribute to a paper on aspects of seniors’ care that COSCO is preparing to submit to the B.C. Government Select Standing Committee on Health. That Committee has been mandated by the Legislative Assembly of British Columbia to identify potential strategies for maintaining a sustainable health care system and has identified some questions that should be addressed and COSCO is planning to respond to the following:
How can we create a cost-‐effective system of primary and community care built around inter-‐disciplinary teams?
What best practices can be implemented to improve end-‐of-‐life care?
How can we improve health and health care services in rural British Columbia? In particular, what long-‐term solutions can address the challenges of recruitment and retention of health care professionals in rural British Columbia?
COSCO has decided to use a case study format in our submission. Therefore we would like to invite you to describe, in one typed page or two hand-‐written pages or less, an actual experience you may have had that highlights either a success or problem in one or more of the three areas: inter-‐disciplinary health care teams, end-‐of-‐life care or rural health. Please indicate the health authority where what you are describing took place. You will not be identified in the submission to the Select Standing Committee.
Please send submissions by August 8th to:
