Volunteer

Thank you for your interest in volunteering with us!

Volunteers play a critical role at the West End Seniors’ Network.  Almost all of our programs, events, and services are delivered directly by volunteers, and we offer a wide range of volunteer opportunities for people of all ages. Over 260 volunteers contributed over 21,200 hours of their time to the West End Seniors’ Network last year, and we want you to join our team!

Positions Available

Peer support Volunteers:
WESN is restarting our peer support program this winter. As a peer support volunteer at Kay’s Place, you will help to lend a compassionate ear to your peers and support local seniors in a group setting.

Friendly Calling and Friendly Visiting Volunteers!
We are starting our Friendly visiting program after a long pause due to covid. Friendly Visiting Volunteers meet with assigned clients for tea and coffee in their home, friendly chatter, or a nice walk. We are looking for a weekly to a biweekly commitment with flexible hours or to be a Friendly Caller and volunteer remotely.

Dance Group Program Lead:
We are looking for a dance-trained volunteer to run an ongoing dance program at Barclay Manor. Both creative movement and step dance experience is needed. 1 hour class per week on a recurring basis.

Kay’s Place Information and Referral:
Located in the Denman Place Mall. Volunteers meet with clients in person or over the phone, discuss their needs with them, and inform them about the services that are available to them at the local, municipal, provincial, and federal levels. One 3+ hour shift a week, Monday-Friday between 10 am-4 pm.

Online Grocery Shopper and Caller:
WESN has a new remote volunteer position with flexible hours! We are looking for volunteers who can call our homebound grocery shopping clients and order their groceries for them online. Training is available!

IGA Grocery Caller:
This position would involve you calling one of WESN’s grocery clients on a weekly basis and collecting their grocery order over the phone. You would then send their grocery list via email back to WESN. Help seniors to access groceries!

Transportation Volunteers:
Volunteer drivers are needed to help transport WESN’s clients to and from medical appointments in the Vancouver area. This role is an on-call role where you can volunteer as much or as little as you would like. Volunteers can use WESN’s Modo car share account so all costs will be covered!
