Each month, we post a question up at Barclay Manor that people can answer and discuss with one another. This question is also in our monthly newsletter and can be answered online.
January’s question was: Have you successfully stuck to a New Year’s resolution? What was it?
Unfortunately, we do not have a photograph of the January 2020 paper, however we can share what some of our members wrote.
A number of individuals said that they do not make New Year’s resolutions. Some have never made one! A couple of individuals also wrote that they have tried to make resolutions, but were not able to keep them.
A few individuals have been able to stick to their resolutions, though! Coincidentally, many resolutions involved keeping gratitude journals and practicing mindfulness.
“Yes – To keep a “Gratitude Journal” for each day of the year (write down at least one thing that I am grateful for) It really lights up a day to read previous entries as wonderful reminder of each blessing.”
“If you don’t do a personal journal, start one & make it honest. You can privately raise issues, figure out how to tackle them, learn what works — & celebrate successes.”
