A lot of us are living with hip pain, and hip replacement surgery in Canada has increased 20% between 2010 and 2015.
This 90 minute movement workshop is focused on what you can do to keep your hips healthy, avoid needing a hip replacement, but recover more quickly if you do need one.
You will learn how to strengthen the muscles around your hips, how to be steadier on your feet, and how functional movement like getting up and down from your chair can increase your strength and mobility.
Please wear comfortable clothes you can move in, as exercises will be demonstrated. Yoga mats are provided, but please feel free to bring your own.
Instructor Deborah Redfern
Deborah Redfern is a 60 year old ‘mover and shaker’ who has taught yoga, dance, and restorative exercise. She is a Restorative Exercise Specialist in Nutritious Movement™. In her early 20s she injured her hip and lower back in a yoga teacher training. After struggling with chronic pain and limited mobility for many years, restorative exercise taught her how to strengthen and stabilize her hips. Her message is that we all can be strong and mobile at any age.
