Barclay Manor is soft re-opening to the public on Monday, October 26.
It has been over half a year since we had to close Barclay Manor, and I know many of you are eager to return to your activities. We are pleased to be able to soft re-open Barclay Manor this month with a selection of programs.
Re-opening Barclay Manor alongside the West End Community Centre Association, Vancouver Parks Board, City of Vancouver, and Vancouver Coastal Health has taken considerable amount of work and we want to move forward slowly and carefully. Safety guidelines and enhanced cleaning protocols are in place. If you have any questions or concerns, please let Anthony or myself know.
Not all programs are able to restart at this time. Some programs that are not returning – for now – involve touching and sharing of equipment or singing, may not fit into our space because of reduced room capacities due to the need to maintain proper distancing, or based on volunteer availability.
To see which programs are restarting, see pages 14-16 of the newsletter.
We will continue some outdoor (weather permitting) and virtual programs as well. These are found on page 13 of the newsletter. We hope to add more virtual programs in the coming months!
Barclay Manor is not open for drop-in visits. All activities must be registered for in advance, including the use of the Computer Lab. We are allowing individuals to visit to purchase memberships, make donations or pick-up resources such as our newsletter.
Registration for programs will open on Monday, October 19.
There will be no newspaper, magazines, food, or beverages available at Barclay Manor at this time. If you are registered for a program, you may bring a pre-filled bottle or tumbler with you. Please do not
Everyone who enters Barclay Manor will be asked to sign in. Please enter from the front entrance unless you require the accessible entrance at the basement floor. This is so we can collect the following: names and phone numbers for contact tracing, that you understand and agree to the risk of potentially becoming sick by entering Barclay Manor and participating in a program, that you understand and agree to notify us immediately if you test positive for COVID-19, and that you are not sick and have not travelled outside of BC within the past 14 days.
All individuals entering Barclay Manor will be required to wear a mask or face covering for the duration of their visit, unless exempt due to health conditions and as approved by staff. Please follow posted signage at Barclay Manor including those that indicate one-way flow, yield and room capacities.
Thank you for your understanding and cooperation. We hope to be able to see you and catch up with you soon. Stay safe and continue to show kindness, patience and understanding to others.
